March 2020 Update

Dear friends and family,

Well, with the coronavirus spreading around the entire world, the year 2020 will be hard to forget! What a change this has made to all our daily routines and work. Here in Honduras, the entire nation has been mandated to quarantine since Sunday, March 15. Praise the Lord that He who holds the whole world in His hands is not in quarantine!!! He continues to show his mercy during this difficult time.

Pic: Impact of Coronavirus in Honduras. So far, Honduras has 219 confirmed cases and 14 deaths due to this virus. Unfortunately for many Hondurans, living amidst health, social, and economic crisis is their norm. Now that Honduras is in quarantine, this intensifies the food crisis as many families are not allowed to work or even to leave their community. We have been raising funds to meet the needs of these families that are experiencing desperate circumstances. So far, with your help, we have helped deliver food to over 165 families in need. As always, we are not only providing temporary help to these people, we are sharing the gospel and planting seeds as we share God’s message with each community! Please pray that God would be thanked, honored, and glorified by all those who have ears to hear! Pray for open hearts, that people would say YES to God’s calling on their lives!

Pic: Drilling the well in El Junco. We give thanks to God that Mike was able to start drilling the well in El Junco this month! Unfortunately, just 2 days after beginning this work the government started the quarantine, so they had to leave the machine sitting there in the community. However, just by starting the well drilling has encouraged the people to let them know, although the drilling may be delayed due to the effects of the virus, we are planning to continue on as soon as the government allows! Please pray for these families to have patience during this difficult time. It certainly is not an ideal time to extend their waiting for the well to be drilled as we are right at the peak of summer here in Honduras and it is incredibly hot and dry.

Pic: Future location of the farm for “God Makes It Grow.” BIG NEWS!!! We have taken a BIG step of faith this past month and signed a contract to purchase the land we were looking at! We made the first payment this month and now we are asking God to provide $22,000 to finish paying for the land. The next payment of $16,326 will be due on August 1. This is a very difficult time to be asking our supporters to give towards this purchase. We know that currently, many of you may not be able to work or you may even be sick due to this virus. Honestly, we do not know the details of how God will provide the funds. We saw the purchase of this land as an act of obedience, so we await God’s perfect timing and His perfect ways of provision.

Please pray about this with us and if God calls you to give towards the land purchase, be sure to include a note with your donation to specify that it is designated for the “land project.”

Praise God:

  • For good health! God has protected us from this highly contagious virus!
  • For all the churches, missionaries, and believers that have joined forces to reflect Christ by providing food for the needy here in Honduras!
  • For the start of the well drilling work in El Junco! Even though this project has been postponed until after the quarantine, it’s a relief to have at least begun this process.

Pray to God:

  • For health and safety. That God would keep us, as well as our friends, family, and supporters free from this fast-spreading virus.
  • That each family that receives food would acknowledge Jesus as their Savior and eternal Bread of Life.
  • For the remaining funds to purchase the property. We believe that God has plans to use this property to make His kingdom GROW!
